It takes many different skills, abilities, and people to be a part of the team that operate our stores. Below are some of the major job categories and their generic responsibilities. If you are interested in any of these positions, please pick up a job application form from any of our locations or print our Job Application Form and return it completed to the Super Save Food Store nearest you. Also, note these are generic job descriptions. Responsibilities may differ by locations.

Checker/Food Clerks
Checkers/Food Clerks provide a high level of customer service and practices safe food handling procedures. All food clerks are trained to perform checkout procedures including the proper handling of customer groceries and operation of an electronically scanning cash register to total customers' final bill. The checker will receive payment for the customer's purchases and count back correct change. They will bag the customer's groceries. Additionally, checkers/food clerks may perform other duties such as ordering, stocking and displaying of merchandise as directed.

Courtesy Clerk
Courtesy Clerks provide a high level of customer service and practice safe food handling procedures. All courtesy clerks work in the grocery department. They bag customer's orders, assist the customers to their cars, assist customer to product location, retrieve shopping carts, return merchandise to store shelves, sweep and mop floors, clean spills and damaged products, and provide other routine store maintenance.

Deli
Deli employees provide a high level of customer service and practice safe food handling procedures. All deli employees prepare food, offer samples, and recommend products to customers. They properly weight, bag, price and cook deli merchandise for sale to customers. They operate scales, slicers, wrapping and cooking equipment, including coffeemaker. Deli employees maintain a clean and sanitized work area including the maintenance of tables, walls, floors, display cases, walk-in coolers/freezers, fryers and other cooking equipment. Deli employees assist with inventories, ordering/transmitting product and/or supply orders.

Bakery
Bakery employees can be either Bakery Sales or Bakers, each provide a high level of customer service and practice safe food handling procedures. Bakers perform the production functions of the department by making the product put out to sale for customers by mixing, scaling and baking doughnuts, breads, cakes, sweet rolls, pastries and other baked goods. Bakers use professional equipment and ovens to make products. Bakers will also decorate cakes. The Bakery Sales employees will package and properly price product the bakers make and place on display for sale to customers. All employees help to clean and maintain the bakery department.

Dairy/Frozen
Dairy/Frozen employees provide a high level of customer service and practice safe food handling procedures. The employees are responsible for stocking shelves, sorting and rotating merchandise. They store milk, eggs and frozen goods in coolers and freezers. They monitor temperatures within coolers and freezers on a regular basis. They monitor expirations dates and removes expired items. Additionally, they maintain cleanliness of the diary and frozen sections.

Meat
Meat/Seafood employees can be either Meat/Seafood Wrappers/Clerks or Meat Cutters, each provide a high level of customer service and practice safe food handling procedures. Meat Cutters cut, trim, process high quality cuts of meat and product for sale to customers. All employees display and maintain in-stock conditions and fresh and appealing appearance throughout the department. They process fresh and frozen meats. Each employee packages, prepares trays, weighs items to properly labels, rotates products and removes out of code date products. Each employee cleans and sanitizes work areas in accordance with company standards and health department regulations.

Produce
Produce employees provide a high level of customer service and practice safe food handling procedures. Each employee receives produce delivers, builds and maintains displays and rotates stock as needed. They inspect displays for damaged or out-of-date items and remove such products for sale. They prepare product for placement on sales floor by trimming, washing, banding and/or wrapping. Each employee maintains a clean department including, floors, tables, scales, mirrors, and both wet and dry racks.
